It was to be our first vacation together. One week Antalya – all inclusive. I actually hate package holidays but my wallet determined the destination. We arrived in Turkey and drove to our hotel – it was so beautiful. The hotel was newly renovated and everything was just perfect. We had a really relaxing vacation, although our bus tour to Pamukkale was strenuous – the bus had broken down on the way there. The ancient city was interesting although it had been built by the Greeks…

What was very interesting – it was to determine our future vacations - was the fact that we both got very restless just lying by the pool. So we rented a motorbike which was actually a heap of scrap (the lights didn’t work, the brakes didn’t really work either…). They gave us helmets that were too large and we only had hiking jackets and jeans on - but who cared. We drove along the coastal road from Antalya to Cape Anamur. Beautiful landscapes, but the road was Hell to drive – and in the end we just made it back to our hotel at dusk – thank God for that!

The Turkish hospitality was phenomenal and Tina always got something for nothing while we had our drinks at the bar.

Well, and what always astonished me was the way they built their apartment houses – people were already living in the third floor, while the first floor only had it’s shell finished…
