Kings of Metal
December 14, 1994
Luke Atkinson, Checker Demon

My first tattoo. 4 hours of agony. I swore to myself – once and never again. The symbols - Hammer, Sword, Crown and Ring, and the flags, were taken from MANOWAR's record Kings Of Metal and were arranged by myself. MANOWAR is and will always be the greatest Heavy Metal band the world has ever seen - MANOWAR is my life. Their lyrics are unique and encouraging. Traits such as respect, honor, the will to never give in - to carry on and to never stop fighting one's own fight - characterize this band. I truly believe that "There the road begins where another will end" and that "For any day that stings - two better days it brings".
Believe me when I say: "To no man shall I kneel"...

Texas
August 1995
unknown artist, Checker Demon

My oath didn’t last for long but after 6 weeks of driving through Texas and it’s surrounding states with a friend, covering 14,000 km and leaving my past life behind me, I knew one thing for sure: The best vacation of my entire life up to date had to be made eternal.

The Ultimate Sin
November 1995
Mauricio, Checker Demon

I’ve always loved the painting on Ozzy's record The Ultimate Sin. At the time I got this tattoo I had a friend who like me, always had a lot of problems with his father. One evening we were sitting together talking and drinking tons of beer. At some point we decided that Ozzy should take the role of being our father – which made us brothers. Our brotherhood has died, but thankfully Ozzy is more alive today than he ever has been!

Snakebike
December 2001
Maik Frey, Wilde 13

I’ve always been a Heavy Metal Headbanger and ever since I could afford them I’ve been wearing snakeskin boots. At the age of 33 I finally got my motorcycle driver’s license like a real rocker – you know - ride to live and stuff like that ;) I wanted another tattoo – something that fit me. That’s when I came up with the idea of combining a King Cobra with the engine of my motorbike, a Honda CB 750. I arranged the elements and again created my own tattoo. Maik liked the idea because it was unique, so he tortured me for 4 hours in one piece. But it was cool because I was allowed to smoke in his studio. He even bought me a pack of „Roth Händle“, which really helped me to almost forget the excruciating pain I suffered on my right chest.

Freedom
December 2002/January 2003
Kelu, Checker Demon

This tattoo means a lot to me. I love America because the country has always given me a great feeling of freedom. In my opinion, the Baldheaded Eagle is the symbol of freedom. I wanted this symbol on my skin after leaving my totally fucked up life behind me. The eagle was to fly – to be free – just like I finally was. I had my peace of mind without restraints or being under any pressure – I was finally able to do what I thought was right being loved and respected from my woman – I was no longer alone on my road for Christina had joined me….

Dragon
December 2002/January 2003
Kelu, Checker Demon

Christina wanted to get a tattoo done as well. One that fit her. I loved the idea because I hate meaningless tattoos – you know the ones that just „look“ good. Christina was born in the year of the dragon and had always been fascinated with these creatures. So, her choice was quite obvious – a dragon it should be.

Strength- Determination-
Merciless - Forever
January 6, 2011
Blaise, Checker Demon

15 years ago I got my „Texas-Tattoo“ and I’ve never regretted it until this very day. But I wanted to enlarge this tattoo for over 10 years and have been constantly searching for a fitting motive. In my opinion Zakk Wylde is one of the best guitarists heavy metal has to offer – not just because of his excellent playing but also because of his attitude. Strength – Determination – Merciless – Forever are attributes I can – and want to - completely identify myself with. So it was actually only a matter of time before I got a tattoo of Black Label Society done. Dimebag Darrell who was shot to death on stage December 8, 2004 was also an outstanding, gifted and innovative guitarist. He was a Texan und a very good friend of Zakk Wylde so that the elements of my tattoo are intertwined together perfectly.

Carved In Stone
March 16, 2011
Blaise, Checker Demon

Judas Priest was the first Heavy Metal band I ever loved. Their true attitude has never changed - they have been proudly holding up the banner for Heavy Metal longer than any other band! It took me a long time to decide on what design I would use for a tattoo but I truly believe I'm doing them justice with this one. Their logo as first seen on Sad Wings Of Destiny in stone surrounded by blazing flames from Angel Of Retribution. Defenders Of The Faith eternally Carved In Stone.
"Hot shock waves charge the air - All heads are banging
Fists pumping everywhere - Guitars are cranking
Heavy Metal."

Metal On Metal
August 3/October 25, 2011
Blaise, Checker Demon

I know most of you won’t believe me when I say this is going to be my last tattoo but it is the one that lets me feel complete and balances me. I still remember being a huge fan of Anvil in the early 80s. The song Free As The Wind told the story of my young life and actually still does – I see it as my dogma. I unfortunately lost touch with the band over the years until I read the book and saw the movie of their life just a year ago. And I was totally touched by their endurance and “never giving up or in”-attitude. That is something I can relate to 100 % and which I deeply respect. I bought their new release Juggernaut Of Justice and finally saw them live this year - and I was totally blown away – by their performance and dedication towards each and everyone of their fans. If you add all this together plus the fact that I believe that I’m really quite metal myself I guess the tattoo is honestly self-evident – Metal On Metal.
