Music is and has been a great part of my life and always will be, because without there would be a vast void. Music makes me happy and gives me strength to endure everyday life - it gives me peace of mind.

Real music - handmade and original - no computer garbage without heart or feeling - without any life - just polluting the air with no right to exist - fuck off and die. Death To False Music!

I want a voice full of intense feeling, a screaming guitar that gives me the goose bumps, a bass that lets the earth quake and drums of doom that won't let me stand still!

I'll be doing reviews of my latest CDs here. The following links will lead you to all studio albums of the absolute greatest Band on Earth and to the Band who created the NewWaveOfBritishHeavyMetal. And you'll find the CDs that in my opinion have written music history.

Kings of Metal   British Steel     Immortal Music

My latest CDs:

Jack Starr's Burning Starr -
Land Of The Dead

This is a timeless old school Heavy Metal recording par excellance. The melodies, riffs and solos are outright brilliant. Jack is a master on guitar. Add in Ned's solid bass playing and Rhino's extraordinary drumming and you have a perfect CD. But that's not what you get here - this recording definitely reaches a higher level thanks to Todd's powerful yet warm voice - his range and intonation are unique making him one of metal's best. The ballad Daughter Of Darkness gives me the shivers...

Anvil - Juggernaut of Justice

Fuken Eh! I am amazed - this is the best thrash record I've heard for more than a decade. Unbelievable. Fast, hard, pounding, straight fuckin' forward catchy riffs that will even let the dead bang their heads. The sound is monstrous - pure power - guitar, bass and drums  are an absolute killer. These guys are in peak form. Time for a new definition of the Big 4 in my humble opinion. They learned from Anvil in the 80's and now they'd be better off learning again - or maybe they should just start running...

Saxon - Call To Arms

What a brilliant CD - Saxon as strong as ever - combining modern day sound with old-school metal building a perfect bridge from the present day back to 1979. Great riffs, catchy choruses, headbanging and intense masterpieces let this journey be complete. Biff sings better than ever. The guitars and drums are awesome and the bass is really outstanding on this recording. Long Live Heavy Metal!

Annihilator

Jeff Waters is fuckin' awesome. His riffing and his solos are absolute killer. The CD is advertised to have 66 solos on it. Do we need this? No, of course not. But we fuckin' love it. Thrash metal at its best - at its very best. The big four - my ass. Annihilator are REALLY metallic and slay with brutal force, bringing ultradeth without bacterial intoxication. Jeff Paden sings fierceful and perfectly fitting. The songs are pure thrash metal but still composed with a pleasant consistency. Bang your fuckin' head, Brother - that's it - mean and vicious and never-ending. Welcome to the Other Side...

Halford IV - Made Of Metal

Rob Halford is the Metal God - providing us once again with convincing evidence of this undisputalbe fact! This recording hits home the way Metal should - Hard and Heavy. Rhythms that immediately force  you to bang your head, extremely catchy songs - straight forward and ass kicking - putting you into a great mood. Only The Mower brings back memories of the brilliant yet very brutal and merciless CD Crucible. Matador, Undisputed, Fire And Ice, Made Of Metal are all magnificent Metal Hymns of the finest style. The ballad Twenty five Years gives you the goosbumps. This guy has the power and the feeling - the very Metal God himself.

Black Label Society -
Order Of The Black

Zakk Wylde kicks serious ass - as always. This CD is as Zakk as can be. Fuckin' heavy guitars, great riffs, constant licks, mean solos. The songs are raw and pure reminding me a bit of early Black Sabbath while the ballads could've easily been on Book Of Shadows - the badass Zakk can sing so damn emotional and touching. The sound is fantastic - very penetrating and brutal. All in all a metal recording like a metal recording should be. I tempt to say that this release is his best to date covering his entire spectrum perfectly. Zakk is the man - enough said, put it on and turn it up!

Crosswind - Opposing Forces

Extremely powerful, straight forward, melodic Speed Heavy Metal - diversified hence never boring - brilliant. Kyriakos Vasdokas' voice has an extreme wide range, hitting the highest notes with perfection. His screaming guitar united in harmony with Leon T.'s let shivers run down your spine. The drums of Vasilis Mitsaris hit you like bullets from a never ending machine gun being supported by Vasilis Kyrkos bass that fills the air. The sound crystal clear, epic - polished but definitely not over-polished and not overloaded. Speed Metal at it's best. If you can stand still while these guys kick ass - go see a doctor - you're probably dead...

Y&T - Facemelter

Y&T have finally released their new CD after 13 long years. But the wait was definitely worth it. A fantastic Hard Rock CD with no fuckin' frills - great riffs that get you rockin', brilliant solos that constantly erupt and Dave Meniketti's voice is awesome as ever - very powerful, intense and emotional. This band has truly become a living legend after existing for almost 40 years - On With The Show...

Angels of Babylon - Kingdom Of Evil

David Fefolt has a great voice that creeps under my skin - extremely intense and very stirring. Ethan Brosh is a brilliant guitarist - his sound is crystal clear - an emotional shredder - the way I like 'em. David Ellefson is a solid bassist. And Rhino on the drums is always more than perfect - kickin' ass, straight forward, powerful and never boring or too much. All in all a very tight sounding outfit. The CD is 80s metal a notch deeper toned which makes it heavier with catchy choruses, propulsive guitar riffs and magnificent solos. Very melodic with epical moments but still hard enough for true rockers.

HolyHell

Finally - the CD has been released. And WOW it was definitely worth the wait - it turned out to be an unbelievable surprise. I was not expecting a CD like this. It hits my nerve like no other CD has in a long long time. It's a masterpiece. Maria's voice has matured - she sings brilliantly, better than ever - hitting all the high notes with immense power giving me endless goose bumps. Joe's fantastic guitar riffs are so damn METAL -  his solos fit perfectly. Francisco is THE master on the keyboards - the best metal has to offer. Jay's bass fits together with Rhino on drums making the sound very heavy. And Rhino is a wizard - he is the best drummer the world has ever seen. His style changes the entire flow of the song - pounding it onwards - no other drummer gets the job better done. The songs on the CD have catchy choruses ranging from true heavy to gothic influenced metal. Yet the CD is still a holistic composition - it fits all together - perfectly. May the skeptics be silenced.

Dream Theater -
Black Clouds & Silver Linings

The 3 CD package is an outstanding buy. But in the end - it's gotta be the music that kicks my ass. And holy shit - they did it again. The CD kicks off with pure metal - bombastic drums, the guitars so damn fuckin' heavy - Train Of Thought comes immediately to my mind. The songs are all masterpieces. A perfect listening experience. Polished but very penetrating and so damn heavy. The Best Of Times brings tears to my eyes - I can feel the love Portnoy has towards his dead father - very touching but in a totally positive way. The CD is Prog-Rock  (METAL!!!) at its best.

Burning Starr - Defiance

Jack Starr's new CD is a great hard rockin' metal experience. Todd Hall has a fantastic voice - powerful and high, Jack's guitar solos are melodic and great to listen to. His riffs are very straight forward. Rhino on the drums is a delight. All in all a cool CD - one or two fast songs would've made me a bit happier.

Crystal Viper - Metal Nation

Thanks to the Magic Circle Festival III I got to take notice of Crystal Viper from Poland. Fuckin' great power melodic metal with a front woman who has a rich and mighty voice which fits perfectly to the sound. Reminds me of Stratovarious at their peak. I love the hammering double bass and the crystal (!) clear screaming guitars - if your head doesn't start bannging on its own you aren't a metalhead - a badass attack to the muscles of your neck...

Saxon - Into The Labyrinth

Saxon is like a good wine - they get better and intenser over the years. A magnificent successor to the Inner Sanctum. Battalions Of Steel gives me the goose bumps every single time - Pure Metal. Biff's vocals are so damn powerful, the guitars are wicked and penetrating, the bass builds the fundament and the drums never stop pounding on and on. A very diverse album, although the main emphasis is based on Heavy Metal the way we Metal Fans love it - hard, straightforward without frills - Riding Out To Glory And Fame!

Ross The Boss - New Metal Leader

Ross The Boss the ex-guitarist of Manowar releases a totally independent CD. Comparing this CD with Manowar - no matter at what era - is total idiocy. New Metal Leader has great modern riffs, screaming vocals (one has to get used to!), hard drums and a good bass . It stands completely on its own and has nothing to do with Manowar's distinctive way of playing metal.

Judas Priest - Unleashed In The East

One of my all time favorite live recordings. I saw the re-mastered version and had to have it  - and I was not disappointed. The bonus tracks are an absolute killer. The songs on this record are Metal - almost 30 years old and still as fresh as ever. Halford sings his lungs out - high - higher - halford! Tipton and Downing are definitely the greatest Guitar-Duo ever - Judas' trademark. This CD is a milestone and always will be - Rock Forever!

Whitesnake - Good To Be Bad

Whitesnake is back - no, wait  David Coverdale is back and wow - I'm truly impressed. This CD has definitely everything a Whitesnake CD needs. The bluesy guitar sound which fits to the powerful voice of David Coverdale. Of course there are those love songs which Mr. Charming does for the ladys but after listening to the other songs I can forgive him because he's got really heavy (Metal!) tunes on this recording. All in All a great listen and it seems Whitesnake are really in their Best Years...

Down - Over The Under

I loved their first album - couldn't get into the second one though. Down III is very laid back and has a bad ass groove - kinda dragging on and on - very much Sabbath in those songs. Guitars are very heavy and I've always liked Phil's voice - although I don't like his lifestyle. Something different - nice and fitting for a gloomy November...Walk away for No Quarter...

Rose Tattoo - Blood Brothers

Angry Anderson kicks ass - straight out of a mean street gang - he's a wildman and Rose Tattoo is definitely Rock 'n' Roll - love those riffs and especially love that slide guitar - gives those songs a mean bluesy touch... Get on your feet and party!

Framing Armageddon - Something Wicked Part One - Iced Earth

Jon Schaffer has once again created a true masterpiece. Fuckin' awesome. A CD which constantly alternates its mood - fitting together perfectly. Hard yet sensitive, fast and straight forward. Tim Owen's voice getting better with each recording...I can't wait for Part Two - grand!

Black Rain - Ozzy Osbourne

Is Ozzy back - yes he is - both on CD and live. Black Rain is a CD, which is miles better than Down To Earth and also Ozzmosis. Ok, he doesn't hit the level of No More Tears, but Ozzy gives us a modern varied CD with the necessary bite, catchy choruses and rhythmns - a great thanks to Zakk Wylde (the guy just has attitude). Ozzy sings like in the good old days and the album rocks - Welcome Back!

Hellyeah

Goddamn - (my) Alcohaulin Ass has Pantera risen from the dead or what the fuck? The unique combination of these musicians is grand, perfect - all together pure POWER. The Groove of the album just hits my nerves - hard, brutal, straight forward. Sometimes I need it a little bit harder - Rotten To The Core!
